Overview Of The Role
We are expanding our transport modelling team in the Transport & Mobility Solutions (TMS) division. As a Senior/Principal Transport Modeller you will work on a range of strategic transport modelling projects for high‑profile clients such as the Department for Transport, National Highways, East West Rail Co and Heathrow Airport Ltd, as well as local clients across the UK and Europe. The role demands collaborative work with colleagues across the wider TMS division.
Responsibilities
* Lead and deliver strategic multi‑modal modelling projects.
* Manage modelling tasks, including survey programmes, model development, calibration, validation, demand forecasting and economic appraisal.
* Ensure outputs meet quality requirements and industry best practice, and motivate others to maintain standards.
* Organise, train and mentor other modelling resources to support project delivery and team development.
* Contribute key inputs to business cases and scheme assessments.
* Liaise with clients and other project stakeholders.
* Participate in business development activities, including proposal preparation.
Candidate specification
To succeed you will bring a numerical degree at bachelor’s or master’s level (or an equivalent qualification), extensive experience developing highway and public transport models from first principles, and proven proficiency in robust model development to support decision‑making. You should possess strong report writing, project management, supervisory, communication and technical skills. Experience with SATURN, VISUM, EMME, CUBE, Diadem, and survey data analysis aligned with TAG guidance is essential.
The Following Would Also Be Desirable
* Expertise in GIS (ArcMap, QGIS, MAPINFO) and programming skills in Python, SQL, or other languages.
* Knowledge of microsimulation software such as VISSIM, PARAMICS, and AIMSUN.
* Understanding of the wider transport planning/engineering environment.
