Founding Production Engineer – Polyurethane / Moulding
Glasgow
£45k- £50k
Build a Manufacturing Facility from the Ground Up
An established UK manufacturing group is launching a new advanced materials facility in Glasgow and is looking for a hands-on Production Engineer to help set it up from day one.
This is a rare opportunity to join at ground level and physically build, commission and grow a new manufacturing operation.
This is not a corporate desk-based role.
This is sleeves rolled up, plant layout, machinery install, process set-up and early-stage team building.
The Role
You will be instrumental in:
* Setting up a brand-new polyurethane / moulding production facility
* Advising on machinery layout and optimal plant positioning
* Supporting installation, commissioning and validation of equipment
* Establishing robust production processes from scratch
* Setting and running machinery in the early phase
* Troubleshooting and optimising moulding parameters
* Developing SOPs and safe systems of work
* Building and growing the production team over time
Initially, you will be part of a small, agile team — despite being backed by a large, financially secure group.
This role will grow as the facility scales.
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience setting up, relocating or commissioning a factory or production line
* Strong understanding of plant layout, workflow and utilities integration
* Hands-on experience in polyurethane, polymers, moulding or similar process manufacturing
* Comfortable running machinery and being operational when required
* Practical problem solver with a methodical approach
* Experience in regulated or quality-driven environments advantageous
* Formal qualifications are less important than real-world experience.
* We want someone who has physically built something before.
Why This Is Different
Ground-floor opportunity within a new division
High autonomy and visibility
Clear pathway to grow into a senior operational leadership role
Backed by a stable, established manufacturing group
Long-term growth strategy in place
