Principal Fixed Fire Fighting Systems Engineer
The role of Principal Fixed Fire Fighting Systems Engineer for AERIUS Marine UK sits at the core of our business. From supporting the preparation of tender responses through the development of new Fixed Fire Fighting systems, production of design documentation, and technical support to commissioning teams and through life design change and upgrades, the role offers a unique opportunity to experience the full product lifecycle.
Primary responsibilities:
1. Development of the client’s requirements into viable system designs
2. Completion of design calculations including: Pressure lossPipe velocitySprinkler coveragePump sizing
3. Developing and managing the control philosophy for Fixed Fire Fighting systems
4. Equipment specification and selection
5. Managing the Fixed Fire Fighting systems interface with other ship systems, for example: Platform Management SystemLow Voltage Electrical Distribution SystemSea Water SystemFresh Water SystemHVAC System
6. Liaising with project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, including: Technical support to both internal and external client/ supplier design reviews.Integration, validation and safety reviewsSupplier and subcontractor design deliverable reviews including factory acceptance trials
7. Maintaining design intent throughout the project lifecycle
Required skills and qualifications:
Essential
8. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture (HNC plus vocational experience will be considered)
9. Chartered Engineer or working towards
10. Proven design experience with Marine Fixed Fire Fighting Systems including: FoamWater Spray and Local ApplicationMagazineGas
11. Experience with Defence Standards and Classification Societies rules.
12. Proven client interface capability.
13. Proven supplier management capability.
14. Ability to lead engineering teams
Desirable
15. Proficient in 2D AutoCAD
16. Familiarity with system shock requirements
17. Proficient with Microsoft Office software
