City of London Corporation

Team Support Officer

FixedTerm Contract until 28 February 2027 – maternity leave cover

21 hours per week (0.6 FTE)

About Us

At the City of London, we are proud to deliver high-quality, inclusive services that support children, young people and families to thrive. Our Education and Early Years Service plays a vital role in shaping positive outcomes across the City, working collaboratively with schools, settings, partners and the wider community.

We are committed to excellence, integrity and innovation, and we value colleagues who share our dedication to public service, professionalism and continuous improvement.

About the Role

We are seeking an organised, proactive and highly professional Team Support Officer to provide high-quality administrative and financial support to our Education and Early Years Service.

This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of the team. You will:

* Act as the first point of contact for public enquiries, ensuring all communication is handled promptly, tactfully and professionally.
* Provide comprehensive administrative support, including managing files within SharePoint, coordinating meetings, preparing agendas and taking accurate minutes.
* Support financial administration processes, including raising purchase orders, acting as requisitioner and maintaining monitoring spreadsheets (including SEND budgets).
* Assist with marketing and outreach activities, including supporting events, conferences and publication materials.
* Contribute to small project management and research activities to support service development.
* Build strong working relationships with colleagues, members and external partners to maintain and enhance the City’s reputation for excellence.

This part‑time role (21 hours per week) offers flexible working patterns across Monday to Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to support service needs.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who is:

* An experienced administrator with a strong track record of supporting teams in busy office environments.
* Technically proficient, with excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
* Confident in delivering exceptional customer service to members of the public.
* Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and manage workloads effectively.
* An excellent communicator, able to explain education-related matters clearly, tactfully and diplomatically to a wide range of audiences.
* Experienced in working within a local authority or large multi‑functional organisation (desirable).

You will have strong literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE Grade C or equivalent), and a relevant administrative qualification would be highly desirable.

Above all, you will demonstrate professionalism, discretion, a commitment to safeguarding and equality, and a genuine interest in supporting the development of education and early years services.

If you are a motivated and detail‑oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and wants to make a meaningful contribution to education and early years provision, we would love to hear from you.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and as part of the selection process the successful applicant will be required to obtain an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check.

The City of London Corporation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

In addition to a competitive salary and membership of the excellent Local Government Pension Scheme, you can look forward to an all‑round package of life‑improving benefits and offers – from interest‑free season ticket and bicycle loans to discounts on health and wellbeing, arts and culture.

For further information or for an informal chat about the role, please contact Kirstie Hilton, email: Kirstie.Hilton@cityoflondon.gov.uk

Closing date: 23:59pm on 7 April 2026.

Interviews will be held on: TBC.
