Cellular Pathology Medical Secretary

Initial placement is at Warrington Hospital. Following the merger of Pathology Laboratories at Whiston and Warrington, the primary location may shift to Whiston. Applicants should be comfortable with potential relocation.
Provide comprehensive secretarial services to Consultant Pathologists, junior medical staff, and the Departmental Manager in the Cellular Pathology Department, assisting with organisation of workloads, ensuring timely and accurate processing of reports.
Main duties
* Typing histology and non-gynaecological cytology reports into the Telepath system, ensuring correct patient and clinical details, and synchronising handwritten/dictated reports with diagnoses on request cards.
* Using SNOMED to allocate appropriate codes, ensuring accuracy for audit purposes.
* Ensuring all reports have medical authorisation before distribution to wards, departments, General Practitioners etc.
* Alerting doctors to outstanding or urgent reports required for outpatient appointments or ward rounds.
* Distributing signed Coroner's post‑mortem reports in accordance with H.M. Coroner guidelines.
Qualifications
* RSA/OCRIII typing or equivalent.
* Knowledge of medical terminology.
* AMSPAR or equivalent experience.
* Shorthand skills / speed writing.
Experience
* At least 2 years as medical secretary.
* Excellent IT skills with Microsoft Office.
* Previous experience within the NHS.

* Ability to manage difficult or sensitive situations.
* Ability to prioritise own workload using initiative.
* Accurate maintenance of computerised and manual filing/documentation systems.
