We seek an exceptional technologist to serve as our Head of Engineering, reporting directly to the CEO and leading our team of internal and external Data Engineers, Data Analysts, and Data Scientists. This hands-on role will shape our technical vision, drive engineering excellence, and embody Fenestra's technical capabilities. You'll have deep technical expertise to drive our data-powered automation solutions forward.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Architecture
* Define and execute engineering strategy aligned with business objectives
* Develop and lead a high-performing team of Data Engineers, Data Analysts, and Data Scientists
* Architect scalable, high-performance data infrastructure with sophisticated system design principles
* Apply advanced computer science concepts (algorithmic complexity, Big O notation, design patterns) to solve complex data challenges
* Lead technology selection, build vs. buy decisions, and technical roadmap development
* Drive continuous innovation, particularly in LLM-based applications and advanced data processing
* Ensure systems are built with appropriate time/space complexity considerations and optimal data structures
Engineering Excellence & Hands-on Leadership
* Maintain hands-on involvement, writing and reviewing high-quality production code for up to 50% of the time
* Establish engineering standards that ensure code maintainability, testability, and performance
* Lead code reviews and technical design discussions, providing expert guidance
* Optimize systems for speed, scalability, and reliability through sophisticated engineering approaches
* Oversee the evolution of our data infrastructure including Airflow/Google Cloud Composer environment
* Apply rigorous system design thinking to create elegant, efficient technical solutions
Commercial & Client Engagement
* Represent Fenestra's technical capabilities to clients, partners, and at industry events
* Translate complex technical concepts into clear business value for stakeholders
* Work closely with the CEO on strategic technical decisions and roadmap planning
* Contribute technical expertise to business development efforts and client discussions
* Stay current with AdTech industry developments to identify technical opportunities
Delivery & Execution
* Drive execution of the technical roadmap with high standards for quality and performance
* Oversee development lifecycle processes that balance speed with engineering excellence
* Implement data governance and security best practices across our platform
* Ensure efficient data storage, processing, and retrieval at scale
RequirementsExperience & Education
* 8+ years of progressive experience in data engineering and full-stack software development of which 3+ years leading engineering teams, specifically with data professionals
* Track record architecting large-scale data systems that handle complex processing requirements
* A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or a similar technical discipline.
* Highly Desirable: 3+ years in AdTech/MarTech, with deep understanding of programmatic advertising data flows
Technical Expertise
* Deep understanding of system design principles, algorithmic complexity, and performance optimization
* Expert-level coding abilities with proven track record of writing production-quality code
* Very deep proficiency in Python and modern software engineering practices
* Advanced SQL knowledge with experience in data modelling and optimization
* Extensive experience with ETL frameworks, particularly Apache Airflow (3+ years)
* Strong understanding of CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), and containerization
* Experience designing and optimizing big data processing systems particularly using Bigquery/ GCP
Leadership & Communication
* Exceptional leadership abilities with proven success developing technical teams
* Outstanding communication skills for both technical and commercial audiences
* Ability to operate effectively at both strategic and tactical levels
