Overview

Assistant Electrical Engineer - Lighting & Energy at WSP. Join to apply for the role at WSP. You will provide low voltage electrical design and consultancy services for nationally significant clients, supporting technical leads on complex engineering projects as part of our Lighting & Energy Solutions team.

You can expect to work on a diverse range of projects for clients in major public and private sector organisations and become part of a respected and ambitious company with excellent career prospects and international opportunities.

The type of work we undertake is varied and includes:

* Small and large scale Electric Vehicle (EV) infrastructure feasibility studies, design, and technical assurance roles, from LEVI chargers to megawatt charging hubs.
* Specification and design of renewable energy generation and energy storage systems to support decarbonisation and net-zero goals.
* Design of innovative urban realm regeneration projects creating public spaces for people to work, live and play.
* Highway electrical design and assurance across local authority and National Highways client bases.


Responsibilities

* No two days will be the same, but you could be expected to manage a range of tasks including supporting project teams to deliver high-quality outputs and right-first-time designs.
* Support the design team lead on projects, identifying and mitigating risks to ensure designs are safe and compliant with CDM regulations.
* Be accountable for your own project work and report issues in a proactive and timely fashion to project leads.
* Contribute in project meetings and reviews to provide input regarding your project responsibilities.
* Coordinate and communicate with other design teams and stakeholders across all projects, from understanding scope to dependencies and later lifecycle stages such as clash detection workshops.


What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate

* A track record of performing to a high standard whilst undertaking low voltage electrical design, preferably within the UK transportation sector.
* Knowledge and experience of feasibility, design, installation, maintenance, or technical assurance services within UK EV infrastructure and/or wider UK transportation sectors.
* Willingness to develop and grow by taking responsibility for technical output, programme and financial performance of your work packages.
* Evidence of being a confident communicator capable of conveying your point of view and keeping stakeholders informed.
* Have, or be seeking to have, EngTech registration with the Engineering Council and active membership with a professional institution.
* Hold City & Guilds 18th Edition Wiring Regulation certification (C&G 2382).
* Experience with AutoCAD, Trimble Amtech ProDesign and Modecsoft ElectricalOM is beneficial but not essential.
