A unique opportunity has arisen to join a specialist title services business with a strong presence in the property sector. This role offers a mix of technical underwriting and customer-focused decision-making, all within a highly knowledgeable and collaborative team based in central Leeds.
We’re recruiting for two Residential Underwriters to join a small but experienced team. These roles have been relocated from London, offering an exciting chance to grow the Leeds hub.
The Opportunity:
Join a well-established group known for its expertise in title-related risk management.
Support the underwriting of residential (and eventually commercial) title risks across a diverse range of cases – from straightforward matters to highly bespoke, complex transactions.
Handle enquiries from solicitors and brokers, allocating and managing cases based on experience and technical ability.
Play a key role in maintaining strong client relationships and contributing to the continuous improvement of underwriting practices and product offerings.
What You'll Be Doing:
Assess and underwrite a range of residential property risks, with the chance to expand into commercial work.
Provide input into product development, customer experience, and marketing materials.
Help guide and train junior colleagues as needed, contributing to team development.
Participate in client-facing activities, presentations, and occasional events.
Develop your skills and authority level, typically starting with a £5m underwriting limit and increasing with experience.
About You:
You may come from a legal, conveyancing, title insurance or property underwriting background – perhaps a solicitor, legal exec, paralegal, conveyancer or experienced underwriter.
Experience with residential transactions (purchase, sale, remortgage, leasehold, new build, etc.) is essential.
A strong understanding of risk assessment, regulatory awareness, and commercial thinking is important.
You'll be enthusiastic, customer-focused, and keen to learn – a true team player who takes initiative and delivers high-quality work under pressure.
Knowledge of or exposure to title insurance is highly desirable, but full training is provided.
The Package:
Salary depending on experience
Excellent benefits package
Hybrid working – typically 3 days per week in the central Leeds office (non-contractual)
Supportive team of experienced senior underwriters and trainees
Long-term career development with opportunities to broaden into commercial work
Why Apply?
You’ll be joining a respected specialist company with an outstanding track record in title protection. The Leeds office is a growing hub of activity, offering a balance of expertise and fresh talent in a collaborative, forward-thinking culture. If you thrive in a busy, quality-driven environment where no two days are the same, this could be your next step.
