The Gables in Hagley, near Stourbridge, is a luxury 61-bedded residential and dementia care home.

We are seeking an Administration Assistant/Receptionist to work on an ‘as and when’ basis to cover annual leave and ad hoc sickness. You will be the first point of contact at the home, requiring a range of skills, good IT experience, and attention to detail. Rotas are planned in advance, with notice given for scheduled shifts. The hours of work are 9am – 5pm.

In addition to reception duties, you will provide administrative support to the Home Administrator, mainly HR-related tasks, and possess a good understanding of financial aspects to cover in the Administrator’s absence.


Main Responsibilities

1. Welcome and greet visitors professionally, ensuring visitor logs and ID checks are completed.
2. Answer calls and respond to enquiries, redirecting as needed and recording messages.
3. Assist with HR-related administration, including recruitment tasks such as sifting CVs, chasing references, and verifying IDs.
4. Organise internal meetings and ensure requirements are actioned.
5. Coordinate staff meal processes as applicable.
6. Respond to emergency situations as needed.
7. Maintain tidiness of the reception area, liaising with housekeeping to uphold standards.


Person Specification

1. Excellent customer service skills.
2. IT literacy and system competency.
3. Previous telephone experience with a professional manner.
4. Knowledge of general administration.
5. Good communication skills.
6. Neat appearance and well-presented.
7. Excellent written and verbal English skills.
