Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to support works on a major transmission substation project in Beauly. This role will focus heavily on protection relay testing within 132kV-275kV substations, working within a live HV transmission environment on a critical UK infrastructure scheme.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out commissioning and testing of protection and control systems
* Perform protection relay testing on 132kV-275kV substations.
* Ensure all commissioning activities are completed in line with project specifications and standards
* Work closely with site teams, engineers, and supervisors to deliver works safely and efficiently
* Complete commissioning documentation and test records accurately
* Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements
Key Requirements
* Proven experience as a Commissioning Engineer within transmission substations
* Strong background in protection relay testing (132kV-275kV)
* Experience working on live National Grid / SSEN / transmission environments
* Ability to interpret technical drawings and relay schemes
* Strong understanding of commissioning procedures and safety standards
Certifications & Authorisations
* SSEN C1 Authorisation (preferred)
* National Grid / SSEN / DNO authorisations
* Substation access certifications (BESC, Persons, etc.)
* Pay: £90/Hour
* No travel or per diem included
* Standard compliance checks may apply
* Working with a leading OEM on a high‑profile transmission project
