St. James’s Place Corporate Real Estate (CRE) team operates approximately 450,000 sqft of commercial office space with an annual budget for the UK real estate portfolio of approximately £40m. The vast majority of goods and services required in support of the real estate portfolio are outsourced, including the buildings themselves which are leased.
The Interim Head of Financial & Supply Chain management will be responsible for two key areas:
1. Planning, managing and reporting against CRE’s financial budget; and
2. Developing, delivering, and reviewing CRE’s processes and best practice for procurement and supplier relationship management
What you'll be doing:
Financial management:
3. Supporting the Director in creating and managing CRE’s budget setting process including re-forecasts ensuring alignment to expected contracted and variable costs and in support of corporate strategy;
4. working closely and collaboratively with SJP’s management accounts team, taking responsibility for maintaining the productive and mutually beneficial relationship and ensuring financial management carried out by the job holder aligns with reports produced by the management accounts team;
5. Analysing and interpreting financial information to highlight risks and opportunities working with key stakeholders to manage risk and drive cost avoidance strategies where appropriate; and
6. Managing the P2P process for CRE, identifying activity required including closing off Purchase Orders and liaising with the supply chain, relationship managers and SJP management accounts team.
Supply chain management:
7. Developing, implementing and refining procedures and process to achieve best in class procurement of goods and services;
8. Developing and managing collaborative relationships with and between supplier relationship managers and suppliers, creating transparency of supply chain and achieving sustainable levels of competitive advantage;
9. Taking ownership and responsibility for analysing opportunities and commercial / financial risk, driving and supporting the CRE Division to exploit opportunities and mitigate risk through best practice procurement and supplier management;
10. Embedding a best practice procurement and supplier management culture within the CRE Division; and
11. Overseeing contract terms, working with SJP’s legal team and supplier relationship managers to manage commercial and financial risk from initial onboarding, through the full procurement cycle including exit and/or renewal negotiations.
Who we're looking for:
With a procurement background, you'll have a good understanding of how outsourcing works and industry best practice when making decisions, including:
12. Experience in a senior management role, specifically the management of change within a corporate business environment and stakeholder / third-party supplier management
13. Good understanding of real estate matters specifically how outsourcing works and what suppliers are needed to support CRE multisite portfolios
14. Detail-oriented with the ability to interpret and work with financial data
15. Clear and confident communication skills both written and verbal
16. Ability to influence, build consensus and acquire agreement at all levels within SJP and with key suppliers
17. People management experience preferable
Desirable:
18. Relevant financial and procurement professional qualifications including either working towards or membership of the CIPS
Special Requirements:
The job holder will be required to travel to supplier premises in line with procurement activities required for CRE and SJP locations as required to meet key stakeholders in person.
