*RESPONSIBILITIES*
Costain is both a Major Programme Partner (MPP) and an Asset Renewal Partner (ARP) for Heathrow Airports Ltd under the H7 5-year framework(s). Costain are carrying out both Principal Contractor and Principal Designer roles and responsibilities across these frameworks.
The T2 Baggage Programme is a £500m+ complex baggage and infrastructure programme intended to extend and protect existing T1 baggage operation until the new T2A baggage system has been designed, constructed, tested and is operational.
The ARP projects consist of a huge variety of schemes that can cover all aspects of general building works, building services, operational airports and civil engineering to renew, replace or upgrade the existing infrastructure of Heathrow Airport.
This role will be to support the works manager to coordinate the safe delivery of all operational activities on site, ensuring Health and Safety, Quality and Environment needs are met along with programme and budget requirements.
You will take the lead with Ops from Costain and the supply chain to ensure our values are built into their culture and our objectives are achieved, this includes helping them to develop throughout the contract.
This project is mainly sub-contractors managing, there may be some future self-delivery but critical to the role is the management of works, liaising & building relationships with the client.

Key Responsibilities:
* Supervising own labour and subcontractors on site and construction of the works to specification and to programme.
* Ensure that details of the safe systems of work developed are communicated to all who will carry out or may be affected by the operation and that the systems are implemented to achieve Target Zero approach to safety.
* Plan and maintain safe and tidy work sites, both internally and externally to public areas.
* Ensure that all machinery, plant, equipment, portable tools and electrical systems are properly installed, regularly inspected and maintained in good condition to minimise environmental damage or pollution and safeguard employees Health and Safety and that adequate records are maintained.
* Control of the execution of the Works in a safe and effective manner complying with the requirements of the contract
* Identify, plan and monitor labour needs.
* Deliver of the daily briefings and toolbox talks
* Ensure that records are kept for work performed, problems experienced, labour force in each area, communications to/from client, sub-contractor and third parties.
* Assisting authors in the production of Risk Assessments Method Statements.
* Involvement in planning for 4 week look ahead programme and collaborative planning for key activities
* Demonstrating a personal commitment to implementation of the Project Management Plan and attainment of the stated quality targets.
* Ensure all delivery records passed to accounting team.
* Ad hoc duties as job requires.
* The management of the workforce on site to ensure that safe methods of work are used and the effect on the environment is minimized.
* To ensure all Costain Way procedures are followed.
Essential:
Required qualifications, skills, behaviours and attributes.
* Appropriate experience of logistics management, including demonstrable site experience on construction projects;
* Good knowledge of safe operational practice for operation of vehicles and Equipment and methods of loading and off-loading;
* Good knowledge and practical experience of planning and organising deliveries to/ from sites;

* People management and recent experience of managing multiple foreman, supervisors and operatives.
