Job Title: Occupational Therapist (Band 5/6) - Bank/Temporary Role

Working Pattern: Monday-Friday (Full time preferred, part-time considered)
Job Summary: We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our team on a temporary bank basis for a 3-month period. This role is suitable for a Band 5 or Band 6 Occupational Therapist, depending on experience.
The post holder will provide a high standard Occupational Therapy service for patients admitted to Robertson Neuro Rehabilitation Ward with neurological diagnoses, supporting rehabilitation, maximising independence, and facilitating appropriate discharge planning.
Main duties of the job
* Deliver specialised occupational therapy assessment and treatment for patients with complex neurological conditions.
* Manage a varied caseload of patients with complex cognitive, psychological, and physical health needs.
* Develop and implement individualised rehabilitation programmes to support functional independence.
* Contribute to effective and timely discharge planning in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
* Provide intervention within the ward setting, patients' homes, and community environments where appropriate.
* Act as key worker for allocated patients, supporting coordination, liaison, and administrative responsibilities.
* Promote positive rehabilitation outcomes through collaborative and patient-centred care.
Requirements:
* HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist.
* Experience in neuro-rehabilitation or complex care settings (desirable for Band 6 level).
* Strong clinical reasoning and caseload management skills.
* Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Person Specification
Education/Qualification
* Registration with HCPC.
* Experience of working with neurological patients in delivery of rehabilitation packages or in a rehab setting at Band 5 level.
* Documented evidence of professional development and reflective practice in relevant aspects of neurological rehabilitation e.g. attendance at in-service training sessions, reflective practice.
* Attendance at relevant post-graduate neurological training courses e.g. Bobath, spasticity management, splinting, cognition and perceptual assessment, fatigue management.
* Experience of working in a neurological rehabilitation setting at band 6 level.
Experience
* Ability and experience of carrying out a comprehensive neurological occupational therapy assessment to formulate a comprehensive neurological treatment plan and goals.
* Knowledge and experience of using a wide range of therapeutic occupational therapy interventions for the treatment of patients with neurological conditions.
* Knowledge and experience of using a range of recognised outcome measures and goal setting skills as appropriate to the rehabilitation of patients with a range of neurological conditions.
* Good understanding of current NHS issues, professional standards, CPD, clinical governance.
* Able to work as an autonomous practitioner.
* Able to work with individuals and groups.Clinical problem solving ability.
* Knowledge of Occupational Therapy models of practice.
* Understand professional ethics and their application in practice.
* React in a flexible way to changing demands in service.
* Experience of supervising and appraising other staff e.g. rehabilitation assistants.
