Job Title: Customer Development Manager (Food Service)
Location: Hybrid - Home-working, weekly in London (Head Office), plus UK-wide travel
Contract: 1 Year Fixed Term Contract (with potential extension). 3-month probation.
Note: Only applicants with food service experience will be considered.
HRA Global is recruiting for a Customer Development Manager on behalf of a large international Dairy Co-operative. You will be employed by HRA Global but report to the client’s Business Unit Lead, focusing on developing wholesaler relationships to grow the foodservice channel and sales of their products. HRA Global provides support and expertise in insights and strategy.
Purpose of the Role:
To expand the dairy brand’s presence across the UK by developing relationships with wholesalers like Bidfoods and Brakes, increasing product listings and opening new business opportunities. The role requires sector knowledge, strategic thinking, and negotiation skills.
While some work is home-based, you will also work at the London head office and travel across the UK to meet clients and prospects.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership in strategy creation, partnership development, negotiation, and market share growth in the dairy sector.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Open New Sales Channels: Identify and develop new distribution channels to expand market reach and revenue.
2. Grow Market Share: Expand into new areas and develop strategic partnerships to increase visibility and availability of products.
3. Develop New Accounts: Establish relationships to increase customer base and revenue.
4. Account Management & Strategy: Create account plans and activation programs for long-term growth.
5. Range Portfolio & Promotions: Collaborate on product ranges and promotional activities to drive sales.
6. Negotiate Contracts: Lead commercial negotiations for mutually beneficial agreements.
7. Sales Data Analysis: Analyze sales trends to inform decisions and strategies.
8. Ensure Strong Margins: Monitor pricing, promotions, and costs.
9. Customer Relationship Management: Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.
10. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with internal teams to meet customer needs.
11. Travel & Client Visits: Regular UK travel for meetings, reviews, and events.
Requirements:
Experience & Skills:
* National Account Management in Food Service, ideally within dairy or related sectors.
* Experience with wholesaler and foodservice channels.
* Strategic planning and execution skills.
* Proven sales and negotiation success.
* Financial and commercial acumen.
* Strong relationship-building skills.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Analytical thinking and data interpretation.
* Resilience and perseverance.
* Adaptability and willingness to travel across the UK.
* Ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
* Self-motivated and goal-oriented with a UK driving license and access to a car.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field.
* Certifications in Strategic Sales, Business Analytics, Negotiation, or Communication (desirable).
