Advanced Practitioner (Social Care) - Safeguarding | Liverpool City Council | Agency / Interim Role
Location: Liverpool, Merseyside
Service: Children's Services - Safeguarding
Hours: 35 hours per week
Rate: Up to £40/hour (umbrella/Ltd, depending on experience)
Hybrid Working: 3 days per week in Liverpool, 2 days home
Liverpool City Council is seeking a highly experienced Social Worker to join their Safeguarding services as an Advanced Practitioner. This is an exciting opportunity for candidates with strong statutory social work experience, court skills, and a proven track record in safeguarding children and families.
About the Role
As an Advanced Practitioner, you will:
Provide high-quality social work practice across safeguarding services.
Work directly with children, young people, and families to assess needs, manage risk, and develop effective care plans.
Lead on complex cases, demonstrating strong court and statutory knowledge.
Contribute to practice improvement, mentoring, and reflective supervision within the team.
Collaborate with multi-agency partners, including Family Group Conference Services, Early Help teams, and family support services.
Uphold Liverpool City Council's values and commitment to children's welfare, delivering outcomes-focused practice.
What We're Looking For
Professional Social Work qualification and current Social Work England registration.
Minimum 3 years post-qualifying experience (permanent roles) in children's social care, with completed ASYE.
Strong statutory safeguarding and child protection experience, including court proceedings.
Experience working in complex safeguarding cases, with a focus on risk assessment and child protection plans.
Must be a confident driver with access to a vehicle.
Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a supportive team.
