Role: Site Electrical Commissioning Engineer
Location(s): Bedfordshire, Suffolk or Rhondda Cynon Taf
Length of role: Up to 12 months depending on location
Rates: Up to £500 per day
Method of pay: Any of PAYE/Umbrella/Outside IR35/CIS
Start Date: ASAP
Site Electrical Commissioning Engineers required for hands-on execution and management of electrical commissioning activities for a gas power project in the UK, until successful handover to the customer.
The scope of activities will include:
1. Hands-on commissioning of electrical components and systems such as transformers, high and low voltage switchgears, DC systems, rectifiers, inverters, etc.
2. Fully competent at using Primary & Secondary Injection test set equipment.
3. Carrying out testing on electrical systems and equipment, as well as system optimization and troubleshooting and filling-in the respective commissioning documentation and protocols.
4. Cooperation with internal team members, guidance and coordination of external partners and sub-contractors, interacting with customers.
5. Ensure all activities conducted on site follow the correct process in accordance with project requirements and in strict compliance with all EHS requirements.
6. Understands and executes the equipment clearance (LOTO) procedure, as well as Job Safety Analysis / Work Authorisation / Confined Space / Hot Work Permits.
7. Authorised for planning and executing LV isolations.
8. Coordination of all necessary activities with all involved parties, such as commissioning team, erection team and sub-contractors.
9. Lead a team of Electrical technicians and co-ordinate their activities.
10. Participation in the walk-downs for Turnover from construction to commissioning, identifying open items that prevent system start-up.
11. Preparation and update of the commissioning procedures to be conducted on site.
12. Provide theoretical and practical training to customer personnel.
13. Report to the Lead Electrical Engineer, the Commissioning Manager, and the Head of Commissioning where necessary.
You will need:
* 5+ years working experience in power stations Electrical Commissioning activities with demonstrable experience.
* HND / HNC in Electrical engineering.
* Strong team spirit, working with an international team and other cultures.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Strong Organizational skills.
* Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
* Fluent spoken and written English.
