Underwriter Location: Coleshill Sector: Asset Finance / Financial Services About the Opportunity An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Group Underwriter to join a growing and ambitious financial services group operating within the asset finance sector. The organisation brings together several well-established asset finance businesses across the UK and is currently entering a period of significant growth, with plans to expand its presence! This role offers the chance to join a collaborative underwriting team where you’ll play a key role in assessing credit proposals, supporting commercial growth, and helping shape underwriting standards across the wider group. The Role As an Underwriter, you will support the wider underwriting function by assessing incoming proposals and making balanced, risk-based decisions. You will work closely with sales and support teams across the business, helping to ensure deals are structured effectively while maintaining strong credit discipline. Key Responsibilities Assess and underwrite proposals received from across the group businesses Conduct risk-based analysis using tools such as credit searches, financial accounts, cashflow analysis and business background information Review large volumes of business information to determine risk levels and reach sound underwriting decisions Clearly explain and justify decisions to sales and support teams, providing constructive feedback where needed Assist with the preparation of credit papers for senior underwriting and board review Assist with deal audits and provide recommendations where improvements are required Process and maintain financial documentation relating to own book deals About You We’re looking for someone who is driven, ambitious and looking for a new challenge within a growing organisation. You will likely have: Experience working as a Junior Underwriter, or within an Underwriting function in a support role within a financial services organisation (asset finance experience is advantageous) An understanding of the asset finance industry The ability to assess financial information including accounts, cashflows and debt servicing calculations (desirable) Strong written and verbal communication skills Good stakeholder management and the confidence to explain underwriting decisions Experience using Excel, Word and CRM systems Why Join?
