Primary SEND Teacher – SEMH Specialist School

NOW Education is currently recruiting a qualified Primary SEND Teacher (QTS) for a full-time position starting in September for the full academic year. This role is based within a specialist SEMH primary school that supports pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs, many of whom have experienced trauma and disrupted early education.
The school provides a highly nurturing and structured environment, with a strong focus on therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches. Pupils benefit from small class sizes, consistent routines and a dedicated staff team committed to supporting both emotional development and academic progress.
We are seeking a resilient, compassionate and skilled teacher who can build strong relationships and provide stability for pupils who require additional support.
The Role
As a Primary SEND Teacher within an SEMH setting, you will deliver engaging and differentiated lessons while supporting pupils’ emotional regulation, behaviour and readiness to learn. You will play a key role in creating a safe, consistent and supportive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan and deliver differentiated lessons in line with the primary curriculum
• Support pupils with SEMH needs using trauma-informed approaches
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to support engagement and progress
• Implement behaviour support strategies focused on de-escalation and emotional regulation
• Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SEN staff and pastoral teams
• Monitor, assess and report on pupil progress
• Maintain a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment
What We’re Looking For
• Qualified Teacher Status – QTS (essential)
• Experience working within a SEND or SEMH school setting (essential)
• Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and behaviour support strategies
• Experience supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs
• A calm, resilient and consistent teaching approach
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable pupils and helping them succeed
