Are you a compassionate and motivated individual, looking to make a real difference in caring for patients with chronic inflammatory skin conditions in Dermatology outpatients ?
We are seeking a dedicated Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) to join our Dermatology chronic disease management team. You will play a vital role in supporting the Clinical Nurse Specialists in nurse led clinics in the care of patients with inflammatory skin conditions including eczema, psoriasis, and acne.
Hours of work between 06.45-14.45. Days can be discussed at interview or by contacting the recruiting manager.
Interviews will be held in York on 14th July 2025.
Main duties of the job
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide direct support in nurse-led clinics, working closely with Clinical Nurse Specialists in reviewing patients on systemic or biologic medications .
2. Assist in joint specialist clinics alongside dermatology consultants, particularly for patients with complex psoriasis and eczema.
3. Carry out condition-specific assessments, including: PASI (Psoriasis Area and Severity Index) DLQI (Dermatology Life Quality Index) PEST (Psoriasis Epidemiology Screening Tool) PHQ-9 (Patient Health Questionnaire)
4. Perform pregnancy testing following established clinical protocols.
5. Manage incoming patient phone calls, offering advice within scope of practice and directing patients to the appropriate healthcare professional or service.
6. Accurately document clinical observations and escalate concerns to the clinical nurse specialist.
7. Support and educate patients on systemic and biologic medications and promote self-management strategies under supervision.
8. Contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

9. 1-year’s previous experience in a Health Care Support Worker role
Desirable criteria
10. Experience in a health or social care setting
Qualifications

11. Completion of the Skills for Health Care Certificate
12. Numeracy skills to Level 1 (GCSE Grade 2-3, D-F or equivalent)

13. Level 3 health care related qualification e.g., BTEC, NVQ, T-Level, Apprenticeship

14. Basic IT skills, able to digitally record observations accurately and use applications such as email on a computer or smart device (e.g. tablet).
