Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for an Estimator. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing cost estimates for both residential and commercial projects. This includes analysing project requirements, reviewing design drawings and preparing detailed estimates. The role also involves liaising with multiple internal departments to ensure accurate and timely delivery of estimates. The role also involves updating and maintaining cost databases, and supporting project managers with financial insights.
Principle Accountabilities
Responsibility for estimating for project requirements which typically involves the following tasks:
• Quantity take-off of manual and CAD drawings
• Completion of estimate schedule spreadsheets
• Liaison with client and architect over specification detail of projects
• Pricing of bespoke and special items
• Producing CAD drawings for pricing purposes as required
• Obtaining quotes from suppliers and sub-contractors within specified timeframes
• Establishing and maintaining relationships with all stakeholders
• Understanding customer requirements, both internal and external, ensuring that expectations are
exceeded
• Maintain records of current and historic costings, ensuring live data is accurately fed back into the
process
• Continually reviewing and updating the company's estimating tool, ensuring accuracy
Responsibility for quoting which typically involves the following tasks
• Printing and collating quotes and covering letters
• Producing CAD drawings for presentation purposes as required
Responsibility for preliminary order progression which typically involves the following tasks
• Liaison with Fulfilment and Purchasing departments as project goes live to ensure full
requirements are understood
• Liaison with client as necessary to obtain final detail
• Progressing of orders from estimate to proforma stage
• Producing CAD drawings for production purposes and customer sign off as required
• Producing workshop cutting lists and plans as required
Experience and Attributes
The following are the required and/or desirable skills/qualifications/experience an individual needs in
order to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position:
• Minimum of 5 years' experience of estimating with the construction industry (or similar)
• Competent in producing CAD drawings
• Working understanding of Health & Safety regulations
• Ability to work with high net worth individuals, clients, architects, designers and contractors
• Experience in the stone/tile sector
• Excellent project management, organisation and interpersonal skills
• Self-managed, conscientious, motivated and driven
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to use independent judgment in performing all duties of the position
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
