Job Specification Amada Punch Press Operator Job Title: Amada CNC Punch Press Operator Reports To: Team Leader Role Purpose: To operate and maintain Amada CNC punch press machinery, ensuring the accurate and efficient production of sheet metal components in line with engineering drawings, quality standards, and production targets. Key Responsibilities: Set up, operate, and monitor Amada CNC Punch Press machines to produce sheet metal parts. Interpret and work from engineering drawings, CAD/CAM data, and job sheets. Load and unload sheet materials, ensuring correct handling to avoid damage. Carry out first-off inspections and in-process quality checks using measuring equipment (verniers, calipers, gauges, etc.). Make minor program adjustments and machine offsets where required. Perform basic machine maintenance (e.g., tool changes, cleaning, lubrication). Identify, report, and help resolve any production or quality issues. Maintain accurate production records and complete job documentation. Follow health & safety procedures, including safe handling of materials and use of PPE. Work effectively as part of the fabrication/production team to meet deadlines. Skills & Experience Required: Previous experience operating Amada CNC punch press machines (or similar CNC sheet metal machinery). Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and production documents. Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes. Competent in using measuring equipment for quality control. Basic troubleshooting and fault-finding skills. Good level of numeracy, literacy, and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Qualifications: Time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 2/3 in Mechanical Engineering, Fabrication & Welding, or a related field (preferred but not essential). On-the-job training will be provided for the right candidate. Working Conditions: Factory/Workshop environment. Manual handling of sheet materials required.
