Offer description

At National Grid, we keep people connected and society moving. But it’s so much more than that. National Grid provides the environment for our teams to thrive and make a real impact. As we drive momentum in the energy transition for all, we are committed to ensuring that every employee feels empowered and engaged. So, join us as a Finance Business Partner, and find your superpower.

The energy transition is central to delivering a net zero future, and National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) is at the heart of that change. As the UK’s largest electricity distribution network operator, we serve over 25 million customers across South Wales, the Southwest, West Midlands and East Midlands. Over the next five years, we’ll invest more than £7.5bn in our network to enable cleaner technologies like electric vehicles and heat pumps, while giving customers greater choice in how and when they connect.

As a Finance Business Partner, you’ll play a key role in shaping decisions across your area of the business. Working closely with leaders, you’ll provide insight, challenge and support to drive sustainable performance, long term value and capability across the organisation. You’ll also help develop talent within the FBP community as we navigate an exciting period of transformation under our new price control agreement.

The role typically involves working on site two to three days a week, with flexibility beyond that. We’re happy to discuss working patterns and individual requirements — we want this role to work for you.

This role is based out of our Warwick office, and the role typically involves working on site two to three days a week, with flexibility beyond that. We’re happy to discuss working patterns and individual requirements — we want this role to work for you.

* Lead long‑term business and financial planning, including budgeting and forecasting, to drive sustainable performance within the regulatory framework.
* Act as finance lead for investment appraisal across the West Midlands, guiding prioritisation, optimisation and alignment with business strategy and value requirements.
* Oversee performance management, financial risk and control, championing operating model discipline and clear accountabilities in line with the organisational blueprint.
* Drive continuous improvement and performance excellence, ensuring delivery of strong, consistent results.
* Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships across Finance and the wider business, contributing to Finance strategic priorities and a high‑performing community.
* Present clear, insightful monthly performance updates to finance and non‑finance audiences, supported by actionable plans to address issues and deliver improvement.

What You’ll Have

* A Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA), with strong experience across planning, forecasting and budgeting.

* Proven ability to adapt style of financial information presentation to suit a range of stakeholders, both financial and non‑financial.
* Demonstrated Business Partner skills to act as a trusted advisor using strategic insight to deliver tangible performance improvements.
* Proactively maintaining continued professional development under relevant accountancy body or other recognised professional development.
* Strong understanding of how value is generated and of operating within a regulated business environment.

We don’t require you to meet every single requirement. Studies have shown that women and people of colour are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At National Grid, we are committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace for everyone. So, if you’re excited about this role but your experience or qualifications don’t match the job description exactly, we encourage you to apply anyway. You might just be the right person for our growing business in this role or another one.

What You’ll Get

Up to £77,000 dependent on experience.

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance with on‑target being 15% (with a maximum of 30%) and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. You will also have access to several flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.

More Information

The role closes on 28 May at 23:59, however we encourage candidates to submit their application as early as possible and not wait until the published closing date as this can vary.
