At National Grid, we keep people connected and society moving. But it's so much more than that. National Grid provides the environment for our teams to thrive and make a real impact. As we drive momentum in the energy transition for all, we are committed to ensuring that every employee feels empowered and engaged. So, join us as a Finance Business Partner, and find your superpower.
We are seeking experienced Finance Business Partners with proven, hands on FBP experience to join the Electricity Transmission (ET) Finance team at National Grid.
You will be part of the CFO function that supports the ET business where we maintain the high-voltage electricity transmission network in England and Wales. We take electricity generated from windfarms and other power sources and transport it through our network of pylons, overhead lines, cables, and substations. It then goes on to separate lower voltage local distribution networks, which connect directly to homes and businesses. The CFO function is critical to delivering our ambitions in ET, and this role plays a key part in setting financial clarity and insights to support strong performance management, providing financial business partnering to a key area of the National Grid business.
Ideal candidates will bring strong commercial acumen, a track record of partnering with operational and leadership teams, and the ability to translate financial insight into business action. This role is designed for individuals currently operating as a FBP who are ready to step into a new role and make an immediate impact.
This role is based out of our Warwick office, and we'd hope to see you at least two days per week with some regional travel(dependant on role) but you're welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. We're happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you
What You'll Do:
* Act as the Finance Partner to a leadership team within ET, providing challenge, insight, and financial stewardship.
* Drive accountability from plan to performance, ensuring forecasts and plans are underpinned by robust, credible assumptions.
* Use your experience to bring commercial challenge to investment decisions, ensuring implications are well understood.
* Navigate ambiguity and prioritise effectively in a complex, fast paced environment.
* Build strong, trusting relationships across finance and operational teams to drive alignment and delivery.
* Deliver high quality insight by interpreting financial and operational drivers and simplifying complex information for stakeholders.
What You'll Have:
* Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA) with 3–5+ years' experience as a Finance Business Partner in a medium or large organisation.
* Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and leaders, driving strategic and operational outcomes.
* Strong commercial mindset with a track record of delivering insight, challenging constructively, and improving performance.
* Advanced analytical and financial modelling skills (Excel essential), with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and simply.
* Experience leading planning, budgeting and forecasting cycles, and supporting investment decisions and business cases.
* Confident working in ambiguous, matrix environments, with a proactive, solution oriented approach to process improvement.
* Experience with financial systems and reporting tools (e.g. SAP, SAC, Power BI), with regulated industry exposure advantageous.
