Salary: £30,000 - £43,000 depending on experience and qualifications

Long-Term Teachers are proud to be working in partnership with a highly specialised school on the outskirts of Taunton that supports young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Set in a peaceful, rural location, the school offers a therapeutic and nurturing environment where students are taught in small groups or on a 1:1 basis, allowing for truly personalised learning and behavioural support.
The school is now seeking a passionate and resilient English Teacher to join their dedicated team. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who can build strong, trusting relationships with students who may have experienced trauma, disrupted education or behavioural challenges. The successful candidate will help students develop essential literacy skills while fostering confidence and a positive attitude towards learning.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver creative and engaging English Lessons tailored to individual learning and emotional needs
* Build strong rapport with students, using positive behaviour support strategies
* Monitor progress, assess learning and provide regular feedback to support personal and academic development
* Contribute to a safe, structured and supportive environment where students feel secure and motivated to learn
Ideal Candidates Will Have:
* A genuine commitment to supporting young people with SEMH needs
* A minimum of two years’ experience teaching, ideally in an SEMH, PRU or alternative provision setting
* QTS or QTLS (preferred but strong unqualified teachers with relevant experience will be considered)
* Patience, emotional resilience and a trauma-informed approach to teaching and behaviour management
