We are seeking a warm, enthusiastic, and dedicated Reception Teacher to join a welcoming and well-regarded primary school in St Albans, starting ASAP. As a Reception Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality, play-based learning experiences in line with the EYFS framework. You will support children’s academic, social, and emotional development while helping them build key early skills in communication, literacy, numeracy, and independence. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging, play-based learning activities aligned with the EYFS framework Create a nurturing, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment Observe, assess, and track children’s development accurately Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEN and EAL Support children’s social, emotional, and personal development Promote positive behaviour, routines, and independence Work closely with teaching assistants and EYFS colleagues Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding progress and wellbeing Contribute to planning meetings, staff meetings, and whole-school initiatives Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will: Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) Have recent experience teaching in EYFS, ideally Reception Have a strong understanding of the EYFS framework Be caring, patient, and enthusiastic Have excellent classroom management and organisational skills Be reflective, creative, and child-focused Be committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing The school is located in St Albans, with excellent transport links and a friendly local community.
