Team Manager – Domestic Violence – Manchester City Council
Salary: £40 per hour.
Responsibilities
The role holder has leading operational responsibility for the Independent Domestic Violence Advisory Service (IDVA) and coordinates the adult social care response within Multi‑Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARAC) across Manchester.
Key tasks include:
* Driving effective team and integrated working by fostering a positive and inclusive culture.
* Identifying and achieving team and service goals to maximise staff potential.
* Developing robust policies and procedures for Domestic Abuse and Adult Safeguarding.
* Identifying emerging harm themes in Manchester communities.
* Promoting and implementing best practice intervention models.
* Collaborating with voluntary sector services supporting domestic abuse victims or those at risk.
* Co‑ordinating and representing within Multi‑Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) for high‑risk survivors and perpetrators.
* Ensuring MARAC and MAPPA responses meet statutory duties under the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Domestic Abuse Act 2021.
* Providing professional consultation, support and guidance for suspected or evident domestic abuse within Adult Social Care and the Manchester Safeguarding Partnership.
* Supporting Domestic Homicide Reviews and disseminating learning across Adult Social Care and the Safeguarding Partnership.
* Assisting the Safeguarding Service as directed by the Service Manager for Adult Safeguarding and Head of Service.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
* Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
* Experience as a Social Worker in line with the Social Work Professional Capabilities Framework (including roles such as Practice Educator, Best Interest Assessor, or Approved Mental Health Professional).
* Willingness to consent to, and obtain, an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
* Three years reference, gaps in employment history checked, and any other relevant qualifications as per JDPS.
