About The Role

GRAHAM ACADEMY –FINANCE PLACEMENT STUDENT

As GRAHAM continues to grow, we’re offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented Placement Student to join our Finance Department for a year-long placement. This role is ideal for someone currently studying a finance or accounting related degree and looking to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, fast-paced business environment where learning and development are actively encouraged.

You will be working closely with, and reporting to, the Group Financial Controller, gaining exposure to a wide range of financial activities that support the strategic and operational goals of the business. This placement offers a unique opportunity to gaining a broader understanding of how finance interacts with the wider business, while also building your confidence in communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.

Job Description

The Placement Student shall:

1. Carry out purchase ledger duties to include processing of supplier invoices and completion of payment runs.
2. Carry out sales ledger duties to include raising, processing and issuing of customer invoices as well as monitoring aged debt.
3. Liaise with suppliers and customers, reconciling to supplier statements and resolving any queries arising.
4. Monitor bank and credit card accounts as well as processing of transactions and reconciliation to statements.
5. Monthly reconciliation of group intercompany balances.
6. Assisting with monthly management accounts preparation.
7. Assisting with preparation of annual accounts.
8. File management including filing, scanning, copying and organisation of documents and reports.
9. Management of existing Sharepoint folders and documents therein.
10. Deal with telephone/e-mail/post enquiries for the department.

Undertake any other duties which may be required by the Group Financial Controller This job description is intended to give the post holder an appreciation of the role envisaged for the Placement Student and the range of duties to be undertaken.

It does not attempt to detail every activity. Specific tasks and objectives will be agreed with the post holder at regular intervals.

24. Finance experience
25. Knowledge of, or previous experience in, the Construction industry
26. Demonstrate competence in SharePoint
