We are looking for an experiencedLead Development Specialist to join a growing IT Development team in Manchester in the Insurance space. This role will suit a highly skilled developer with strong leadership qualities, keen to guide a team in delivering high-quality solutions within the Microsoft technology stack.

As the Lead Developer, you will provide technical expertise, mentor junior developers (including offshore colleagues), and play a key role in designing and delivering enterprise-level applications across a diverse range of projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the team in implementing technical solutions using modern development practices.
* Define and deliver system designs, contributing to IT roadmaps and transformation initiatives.
* Write scalable, testable, and efficient code while setting quality standards for the team.
* Conduct code reviews, testing, and defect analysis to ensure robust and reliable solutions.
* Collaborate with architecture, infrastructure, and security teams to deliver business requirements.
* Research and recommend new tools, frameworks, and approaches to drive innovation.
* Provide 2nd and 3rd line technical support where needed.
* Mentor and support junior developers to encourage best practice adoption.
Skills & Experience
Minimum of 8–9 years’ relevant development experience.
Strong technical expertise with:
* MS SQL Server (T-SQL, stored procedures, functions)
* SSIS / ETL tools (Informatica preferred)
* Web APIs & SOA
* .NET Framework, .NET Core, ASP.NET, MVC
* Additional beneficial skills:
* SSAS / SSRS
* Tableau or Power BI
* C# development
* SharePoint
* Data modelling & real-time data integration
* Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
* Experience in finance or insurance data models would be an advantage.
