Engineering Manager – UK/Europe
Position Summary
The Global Engineering team has a distributed organizational structure with resources located in the Americas (USA, Canada and Mexico), UK, Europe (Spain) and Middle East Regions. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the manager and technical leader of the UK/Europe regional engineering team. Primary duties are to ensure company delivers leading edge solutions to our customers and to provide technical direction to the engineers and technical resources in the group. Preparation of technical reports, evaluations and detailed engineering documentation will be required on a regular basis.
Organisational Structure
This position reports directly to the Director Global Engineering.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for the management and technical leadership of the Regional Engineering team in the UK and Europe. This includes, but is not limited to, assigning, scheduling and reviewing engineering tasks for members of the group. Support recruitment, hiring, and annual evaluation of full-time staff and temporary positions in cooperation with Human Resources and the Director Global Engineering.
* Maintain an awareness of new communications technologies, competitive trends. Establish and maintain effective relationships and communication channels with industry leading Telecommunications equipment manufacturers.
* Promote the development of creative, high-quality solutions as well as provide analysis, evaluation and recommendations to management and engineering on the applicability of new communications technologies.
* Preparation, review and approval of detailed engineering documentation, which may include but is not limited to, cost estimates, budgets, schedules, drawings, specifications, procedures, technical reports and status reports.
* Provide technical support to the Bids team for complex quotes, support the Bids team in evaluation of customer requirements and participate in the review and approval of technical proposals on an as required basis.
* Responsible for regular technical audits of engineering projects to ensure projects are being executed to customer satisfaction.
* Assist in development and maintenance of the key engineering processes required to execute large-scale Telecommunication engineering projects.
* Establish and maintain an awareness of HS&E and QMS across the Regional Engineering team and within assigned projects.
* Mentor the engineering team members and promote cross-team collaboration and training to improve engineering core competencies and facilitate team member continuous professional development.
* Provide input to and assist with Director Global Engineering with the budgeting process. Approve internal and project-based expenditures as required within signing limits.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
Experience
* Considerable experience in international Telecommunications industry standards and protocols.
* Considerable experience in Telecommunications products and systems, such as WAN/LAN/ WIFI, OSP Fiber Optic Systems, Structured Cabling Systems, Closed Circuit TV, Access Control Systems, PAGA/EAS Systems.
* Considerable experience in LTE Systems, UHF/VHF/Marine/Aeronautical Radio Systems, Microwave Systems, Audio Visual Systems, Entertainment Systems, MET/WMS Systems.
* Systems engineering process experience and a thorough understanding of current Telecommunication technologies and trends.
* Engineering management experience including a demonstrated track record delivering engineering packages for large scale onshore and offshore multi-discipline, multi-EPC projects.
* Experience with various operating systems, applications and software engineering tools, such as MS Office Suite, SharePoint, CAD, Bluebeam, and other common engineering software used in Telecommunications Engineering.

* Strong oral and written communications skills.
* Self-directed, self-motivated and able to work without supervision.
* Must be fluent in spoken and written English. Other languages considered an asset.
Environmental Working Conditions
Due to the high level of concentration required and the sensitivity of the information that may be discussed this position requires a quiet work area with an office that has a door to provide privacy and minimize disruption.
This position may require periodic domestic and international travel.
Supervision Of Others
This position supervises a Regional Engineering team comprised of approximately 10-20 engineering staff through direct supervision of the team members as well as supervision of project Lead Engineers.
