PMLD Teaching Assistant

About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our specialist team supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). This is a deeply rewarding role where you'll work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to provide highly individualised care and education to students with complex needs.
Key Responsibilities
Support pupils with PMLD in both group and one-to-one settings
Assist with personal care including toileting, feeding, and moving & handling (training provided)
Use a range of communication methods including Makaton, PECS, and sensory approaches
Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and contribute to their review
Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment
Work collaboratively with families and outside agencies
Requirements
Experience working with children or young adults with complex needs (desirable but not essential)
A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Willingness to undertake relevant training, including manual handling and medical protocols
