NI Fitter/Improver - North London, Hertfordshire and Essex Area
Responsibilities
* Installing lift/escalator Well and Ancillary Equipment in accordance with approved procedures by selecting appropriate tools and equipment based on the operations to be performed and the equipment to be installed.
* Installing Traction Equipment in accordance with approved procedures, including siting, assembly, fitting, alignment and adjustment of lift/escalator equipment.
* Installing Lift Ropes (traction media) and adjusting in accordance with approved procedures, including installing suspension, safety and governor ropes to new or reconstructed lift equipment.
* Installing Lift Doors and Frames according to approved procedures (manual and power-operated doors, multi-leaf doors, hinged doors, collapsible gates, shutter gates and bi-parting doors and shutters, door operators and safety devices for new or reconstructed lift equipment).
* Checking and setting the lift/escalator installation in accordance with approved procedures, including final checks and adjustments prior to final test and commissioning.
* Carrying out site surveys.
* Keeping the supervisor informed regarding progress, hours spent, and any non-compliance.
* Staying in communication with the customer and the supervisor to ensure customer needs are met.
* Attending relevant training sessions.
* Carrying out all works in accordance with the Company’s Quality Corporate policy.
* Working in accordance with the Company’s Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current UK legal requirements and Schindler Group safety requirements, and setting a personal example of safe behaviour.
* Contributing to the Company safety objectives by maintaining/monitoring current safety systems under direct control and implementing agreed changes to its safety management system where applicable.
Qualifications
* NVQ level 3 minimum in Lift/Escalator Installation or equivalent, or mechanically/electrically qualified with willingness to work towards NVQ3.
* Possession of a relevant/valid Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card.
* Advanced product and installation knowledge/experience.
* Proven fault finding and diagnostic skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
* Ability to work independently with a flexible approach.
* Good communication skills at different levels (Client/Installation Managers/SAIS Inspectors).
* Good punctuality.
* Manual dexterity; ability to use hands, arms and feet for repetitive lifting and to operate hand and power tools, and to record written information.
* Full UK driving licence.
