Job Summary
We are seeking to appoint a Full‑Time Fixed‑Term Locum Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with a special interest in facial deformity to join the established and supportive Maxillofacial Department at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
A candidate who is unable for personal reasons to undertake the duties of a whole‑time post will receive equal consideration. If such a candidate is appointed, the job content will be modified as appropriate in consultation with consultant colleagues and local management.

Main Duties
The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including consultants, orthodontists, anaesthetists and specialist nursing staff, to deliver high‑quality care to patients requiring orthognathic and facial deformity surgery. This role involves active participation in outpatient clinics, theatre sessions, multidisciplinary team meetings, audit and teaching activities within the department.
The post offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of the deformity service at NNUH while gaining valuable experience in a busy tertiary referral centre with a broad case mix. The successful candidate will be supported by experienced colleagues and will be encouraged to engage in service improvement, research and training initiatives.

Person Specification
Essential
* Full GMC and GDC registration.
* Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT OMFS (Proposed CCT date within 6 months of the interview).
* High level of clinical experience and competence in OMFS services, including trauma.
* Ability to manage full spectrum of oral and maxillofacial conditions.
* Independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.
* Training and expertise in child safeguarding.
* Good communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
* Enthusiasm for service development and teaching.
* Awareness and commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
* Flexible outlook on working hours.
* Must live within a 15‑mile radius of the base trust or 30 minutes travelling time.
* Ability to travel across multiple sites while public transport may not be available.
Desirable
* Postgraduate qualification.
* Special interest in facial deformity and orthognathic surgery.
* Facial deformity/orthognathic/trauma fellowship.
* Clinical research or published papers in the area of special interest.
* Teaching experience.
