Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. Duties
* Assist in preparing and cooking a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards
* Support senior chefs in food presentation and plating to ensure visual appeal
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen workspace in compliance with hygiene regulations
* Supervise junior kitchen staff when required, providing guidance and support
* Ensure all food safety protocols are adhered to during food preparation and storage
* Assist in inventory management by checking stock levels and notifying management of shortages
* Contribute to menu development ideas and participate in special culinary projects
* Serve food efficiently during service periods, ensuring customer satisfaction is met or exceeded
Skills
* Proven experience in food production, cooking, or a similar role within a hospitality setting
* Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
* Leadership qualities with previous supervising or team management experience preferred
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure during busy service times
* Good communication skills to effectively collaborate with kitchen staff and front-of-house teams
* Passion for culinary arts, with a keen eye for detail in food presentation and quality control
* Ability to adapt quickly to new recipes, techniques, and operational procedures
* Previous restaurant experience is highly desirable, along with serving skills that enhance customer service
