Salary: £30,188 - £34,452 (pro-rata for part-time sessional)
Hours: 21 per week, 39 weeks sessional
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Pupil Support Officer to support individuals, pupil groups and their families at Hillwood Primary School.
Pupil support officers play a key role in supporting the assessment, planning and direct support of children, young people and their families in relation to relationships and emotional health and wellbeing and family liaison.
Responsibilities:
* Support individuals, pupil groups and families in their educational journey.
* Assist in the assessment and planning of learning programmes.
* Deliver nurture education, applying the six key principles in small, structured groups and on a 1:1 basis.
* Build and maintain effective positive relationships with children at various primary school stages.
* Facilitate links with families to promote participation and remove barriers to involvement in school life.
* Provide or link families to evidence‑based parenting groups and local authority‑delivered support services.
Qualifications:
* SVQ Level 3 or equivalent in relevant subjects such as childhood practice, child development, nursing, psychology, social care, or education.
* Experience delivering nurture in an educational setting, preferably with CEC Nurture Training completed.
* Familiarity with the principles of nurture and the Nurture Framework.
* Experience working with children to develop social, emotional and behavioural skills.
Hillwood Primary School is a small non‑denominational primary school situated on the western outskirts of Edinburgh, with 100 pupils across four composite classes and an Early Years class for eligible 2‑year‑olds. The school delivers 1,140 hours during term time only and has extensive grounds that support a strong focus on outdoor learning, loose parts play, forest visits and the Daily Mile.
The post includes a mobility clause, meaning the successful candidate could be moved to a different school in the future.
Regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. An overseas criminal record check will be required for those who have spent a continuous period of three months or more out of the UK in the last five years.

Our salary range reflects the initial starting salary and increases annually until it reaches the top of the range. We will consider flexible working arrangements.
