Job Summary

The post holder, in conjunction with the trust’s CERN best practice groups/clinical network, will lead and develop the Bolton locality CERN pathways across adult and older adult community teams, ensuring the pathways comply with best practice standards, providing expert support, guidance and development to the CERN senior practitioners within the teams.


Responsibilities

* Provide clinical leadership, supervision, support and consultation to the community teams for the management of CERN.
* Support care coordinators and MDTs in the management of cases as required.
* Assess and develop formulations for the interventions for people with CERN in the community.
* Provide therapeutic interventions for people with CERN, to include but not limited to Structured Clinical Management (SCM) and Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT).
* Deputise for the Service Manager in their absence and take on any delegated management duties as required.
* Provide clinical supervision to Senior Practitioners for CERN and others requiring expert supervision as required.
* Provide training to workforce and EBE on therapeutic interventions.
* Ensure effective evaluation and development of the CERN pathway and service developments in line with the strategy.
* Develop effective service interfaces.
* Contribute/participate in group therapy for service users with CERN.
* Lead a Reflective Practice Group and ensure provision of groups across the locality offer.
* Identify training needs in the community teams.
* Contribute to the development of the trust CERN strategy.
* Contribute to the Operational on Call and Operational on Site rotas (formerly known as the bronze on call/site).

Person Specification


Essential Qualifications

* Registered Mental Health Nurse, Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker or similar professional qualification.


Desirable Qualifications

* Masters level qualification.
* Evidence of post‑qualifying education.


Essential Experience

* Demonstrable experience of working with this service user group.
* Post‑registration experience of working in multi‑disciplinary team in a clinical setting.
* Evidence of post‑registration training/development.
* Experience of participating in audit and an understanding of quality improvement, implementing PDSA cycles and action plans.
* Experience of service evaluation.
* Experience of service development.
* Experience of completing a training needs analysis and subsequent planning and delivery of training.
* Experience of delivering key performance indicators for a service.


Desirable Experience

* Additional qualifications in psychological or psychologically informed interventions such as SCM/MBT/DBT.


Essential Knowledge

* Offer advice and consultation to members of the multi‑disciplinary team based on best evidence.
* Contribute to clinical governance processes including completing complaints and report writing in relation to incidents.
* Lead on the implementation of the Trust‑wide strategy across provider‑led services within the locality ICB.
* Facilitate a culture of lifelong learning, including involvement in appraisals, Knowledge Skills Framework and Personal Development Plans.
* Participate in and ensure provision of clinical supervision, both as supervisee and supervisor, and understand the Knowledge, Skills Framework under Agenda for Change.
* Ensure compliance with policy, procedure and protocol, in consultation with the Service Managers, Operational Managers, other Senior Practitioners and Professional Leads.
* Lead on and participate in multi‑agency meetings e.g. Protection of Vulnerable Adults, Child Protection.
* Understand the Clinical Governance agenda and provide representation in local groups supporting consultation and implementation.
* Knowledge and understanding of the theory underpinning working with people with Complex Emotional and Relational Needs.
* Understanding of current national policy and initiatives in relation to severe and enduring mental health issues specifically CERN.
* Understanding of DoH/Professional body policy in relation to this area of practice.


Work‑Related Circumstances

* Frequent requirement to travel mainly within the locality and occasional travel across the trust to attend meetings and events relevant to the role.
