We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a full-time Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join the team at the Radbourne Unit. This role is based on one of our male acute wards and is designed to offer direct support to adult acute mental health patients. Key Responsibilities
* Conduct occupational assessment and deliver therapeutic interventions in line with national recommendations to support patients in achieving safe discharge back into the community.
* Adopt the policies and philosophy of the service and provide occupational assessment and treatment using a range of appropriate interventions based on the recovery philosophy and the Model of Human Occupation.
* Work and support the wider MDT to develop and provide a safe and effective discharge plan back into the community.
* Develop and deliver an Occupational Therapy Service on the ward for inpatients, supporting the Occupational Therapy care pathway based on evidence‑based practice.
* Exercise independent judgement, demonstrate initiative and creativity, and manage workload effectively by prioritising competing demands.
* Maintain effective communication, empathy, self‑awareness, and critical self‑reflection skills as a dynamic clinician.
* Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements, including Mental Health Act, Code of Practice, Human Rights Act, Disability Discrimination Act, and Child and Adult Protection procedures.
* Promote social inclusion, independence, and autonomy for service users, building respectful, consistent therapeutic relationships and collaborating with other agencies.
Working Hours and Patterns
The post is 37.5 hours a week (Monday–Sunday). Shifts are typically 7.5 hours and may range from early to late, covering times between 8 am to 4 pm and 12 noon to 8 pm. Patterns of work can be discussed upon recruitment.

Requirements and Qualities
* Health Professions Council registration (or ability to maintain it).
* Demonstrated ability to work independently in an inpatient environment, recognising potential hazards and managing risk.
* Strong interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on respecting diversity and promoting equality.
* Experience or willingness to develop and deliver a ward‑based Occupational Therapy service.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to Trust policies, procedures, and legislative directives.
