Dispensing Assistant - Fortuneswell Pharmacy

Fortuneswell Pharmacy, a wholly‑owned subsidiary of Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, is seeking enthusiastic and self‑motivated individuals to join our outpatient pharmacy team. The role involves assisting in the dispensing process, supporting pharmacy stock management, selling over‑the‑counter products, and contributing to service development.
Key Responsibilities
* Assisting in the maintenance of an efficient and safe dispensing service.
* Ensuring work is undertaken in line with policies and procedures.
* Communicating with patients, carers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding routine/sensitive information requiring empathy, reassurance and advisory skills.
* Managing pharmacy stock, including ordering, receipt and inventory management.
* Maintaining a safe working environment.
* Contributing to policy/service development by suggesting changes/improvements within own area of activity.
* Reviewing staff training materials and Standard Operational Procedures under the supervision of the Superintendent Pharmacist.
Qualifications & Experience
* Evidence of general work experience.
* Evidence of work experience in a pharmacy environment.
* Good level of education – GCSE grade C or equivalent in Mathematics and English.
* Qualified to NVQ level 2 or 3 in Pharmacy Services, or willing to undertake specified NVQ units within an agreed timescale.
* Computer literacy and keyboard skills.
* Enthusiastic, motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.
* Ability to work methodically and accurately under pressure, prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
* Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
* Team‑working ability, flexibility and willingness to adapt practices.
* Good analytical, judgemental and interpersonal skills.
Additional Information
* Salary negotiable (band 3) in the region of £24,937‑£26,598 per annum.
* Permanent, full‑time role.
* Location: Dorset County Hospital, Williams Avenue, Dorchester, DT1 2JY.
