Overview
East Sussex College is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Uniformed Public Services Teacher to join our dedicated team at the Eastbourne campus. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching to learners across our Uniformed Public Services programme, with a specific focus on learners aged 16–19.
Responsibilities
* Deliver engaging and innovative lessons across the Uniformed Public Services curriculum, including topics such as fitness, teamwork, leadership, and public sector knowledge.
* Plan, prepare, and assess learning to meet the needs of all students.
* Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment activities, including trips and visits related to the public services sector.
* Provide pastoral support, guidance, and mentoring to learners, promoting positive attitudes and behaviour.
* Participate in quality assurance processes including lesson observations, feedback, and standardisation.
* Maintain accurate records of student progress and contribute to reports, reviews, and meetings as required.
Essential Criteria
* A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, CertEd, or equivalent) or willingness to achieve one.
* Relevant degree or equivalent vocational qualification in Uniformed Public Services, Sport, or related subject.
* Experience of teaching Uniformed Public Services or Sport in a school, college, or training setting.
* Ability to engage and inspire learners aged 14–19, including those with diverse educational needs.
* Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
* Knowledge of safeguarding practices and commitment to promoting the welfare of young people.
Desirable
* Experience of working within or alongside the uniformed services (e.g. armed forces, police, fire service).
* First Aid qualification or willingness to obtain.
* Coaching or fitness instructor qualifications (e.g. Level 2 Gym, FA Level 1, etc.).
Dates and Location
* Closing date: 17th September 2025
* Interview Date: W/C 22nd September
* College location: Based at our Eastbourne Campus.
Annual salary: £26,877 - £41,414 FTE (£21,792 – £33,578 actual.)
(Subject to qualifications, skills and experience)
Hours: Part Time - 30 hours/52 weeks
Possibility for Full Time including Deputy Head of Curriculum responsibility.
