We are now looking for a hands-on Technical Assistant to join our close-knit team and support our quality and compliance functions. Role Overview This is a practical, varied role ideal for someone looking to gain extensive technical knowledge in a high-standards meat processing environment. The Technical Assistant will support the day-to-day food safety and quality assurance activities, help maintain compliance with BRCGS and regulatory standards, and ensure accurate documentation and traceability throughout operations. Key Responsibilities Assist in the implementation and monitoring of the sites Food Safety and Quality Management System (FSQMS). Carry out routine quality checks, including product, temperature, hygiene and traceability verifications. Help prepare for and support external audits (typically BRCGS and regulatory inspections). Maintain accurate records and documentation for all technical activities. Collect product and environmental samples for testing (microbiological, shelf-life, water, etc.). Support in the investigation of customer complaints and non-conformances, including root cause analysis. Participate in internal audits (GMP, hygiene, traceability) and corrective action tracking. Assist with training staff on induction, hygiene, food safety practices, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Monitor and update product specifications and supplier approvals as needed. Work closely with management and production staff to promote a food safety and quality culture on site.
