Overview
As a Supported Living Manager, you will lead a specialist service supporting young adults with autism, some of whom may present behaviours that challenge as they transition into adult services. This is a hands‑on leadership role requiring resilience, emotional intelligence and the confidence to lead teams through complex and sometimes challenging situations. You will be responsible for creating a safe, structured and person‑centred environment, while ensuring staff feel supported, capable and confident in their practice.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, manage, and develop a team of support staff.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and best practices.
* Oversee care plans and risk assessments to meet individual needs of each resident.
* Build strong relationships with residents, their families, and other stakeholders.
* Manage budgets and resources efficiently.
* Promote a positive and inclusive environment that respects diversity and individual choice.
* Provide visible, hands‑on leadership within the service, including during incidents or periods of heightened behaviour.
* Support staff to manage behaviours that challenge in a safe, consistent and person‑centred way.
* Embed a calm, structured environment that promotes positive outcomes for the people we support.
* Conduct regular supervisions, appraisals and training sessions to keep staff well‑supported and motivated.
* Implement and embed Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approaches across the service.
* Make decisions under pressure and have courageous conversations to maintain high standards of care.
* Maintain high standards of care by ensuring services comply with CQC regulations and other relevant frameworks.
* Develop and implement personalised care plans that reflect the individual needs, preferences and goals of each resident.
* Ensure staff are trained, confident and consistent in responding to behaviours that challenge.
* Review and adapt support strategies in response to incidents, ensuring continuous learning and improvement.
* Foster effective communication within the team, with residents, families and external professionals.
* Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all residents through effective safeguarding policies and procedures.
* Oversee the financial aspects of the service, including budgeting, invoicing and resource allocation.
* Promote equality, diversity and inclusion.
Qualifications and Experience
* Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role within social care.
* Strong leadership and management skills.
* Experience and excellent understanding of autism, PBS, mental health issues and learning disabilities.
* Proven ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Confidence in managing risk, making decisions and holding boundaries.
* Commitment to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion.
Desirable
* Relevant qualification in Health & Social Care.
* Previous experience in a supported living environment.
* Knowledge of CQC standards and regulations.
* Experience in staff training and development.
