Spire Bushey has an exciting entry level opportunity for a Medical Lab Assistant to work within the pathology department this role is fixed term contract for 12 months.
Job Purpose:
To perform clerical, technical and scientific work relating to the laboratory in a professional and competent manner, whilst being supervised by a professionally qualified member of staff at a hub pathology site.
Overall Responsibilities:
* Undertake simple pathology investigations.
* Report factual data and information.
* Package samples for onward transport in a safe and timely manner
* Monitor and evaluate the movement of laboratory specimens, blood and tissues.
* Support point of care testing
* Support blood transfusion and Haemobank management
* To deal with all patients, referring clinician and consultant requests for information promptly and efficiently.

You must be very well presented, have good telephone and written skills / experience. You should also have excellent organisational skills. You should have similar Healthcare Medical Secretary experience to be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Administrative & PA Support
* Manage doctors' diaries, appointments, correspondence, and medical notes.
* Coordinate consultations, meetings, and follow-up actions.
* Handle patient registration, referrals, and results in line with GDPR and practice procedures.
* Answering calls, responding to emails and messages, and clinic opening/closing duties.
* Maintain a safe, compliant workplace with proper stock and resource management.
* Act as first point of contact for patient queries and appointment coordination.
* Guide patients through tests, referrals, and private insurance processes.
* Ensure timely follow-up and resolution of concerns, supporting a seamless patient experience.
* Track and process test results, referrals, and external communications.
* Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with GDPR and CQC standards.
4. Compliance & Documentation
* Support audits, inspections, and regulatory adherence where needed.
* Follow and promote practice policies and procedures.
* Process payments
* Liaise with the accounts team to ensure accurate reporting and financial protocol adherence.
6. Operational Support
* Oversee clinic stock.
* Identify and resolve day-to-day operational issues.

7. Service Promotion
* Support retention and satisfaction by promoting additional services.

Key Skills & Experience:
* PA/administrative experience in private healthcare or similar customer focused setting.

* Financial accuracy in processing payments, and recordkeeping.
* Familiarity with GDPR, CQC, and clinical confidentiality protocols.
