A Secondary School in Taunton is looking for a Parent and Family Support Advisor to join their pastoral team. Your priority will be ensuring safeguarding of students and making contribution to their efforts to enjoy their school years and achieve up to the best of their abilities. You will be the bridge between parents/ guardians and the school, maintaining regular communication, putting interventions in place, and ensuring that the families are consistently engaged in student’s development and progress.
Main Responsibilities
* Working closely with students, families and staff to provide early interventions, support, advice and guidance.
* Act as lead point of contact for parents/ guardians of students receiving additional support.
* Identifying students and families needs and putting appropriate support in place.
* Staying in contact with families and students with known attendance issues (as directed by line manager) and investigating the circumstances behind the absence.
* Identify needs or patterns of behaviour and help resolve difficulties inside and outside of school with a solution focused and timely approach.
* Empower families to make the best use of their own resources; support the families whose children are experiencing emotional health difficulties.
* Devise, implement and monitor the effectiveness of action plans.
* Work collaboratively with school staff, external agencies, and other professionals to secure the best outcomes for children.

The ability to establish and maintain productive and empathetic relationships with students will be necessary. Through these relationships you will motivate the pupils and watching them develop their self esteem, build resilience and enjoy their school life will be an incredibly rewarding experience. Challenges will arise and we will need you to maintain a confident approach, coping with stressful situations whilst continuing to take responsibility for important decisions affecting children. However, the supportive and collaborative pastoral team will always make sure all the staff are looked after so you will never feel alone with this strong team behind you.
