Job Title: Wastewater Modeller
Location: Falmer – Hybrid working
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week
Salary: Up to £50,000 depending on experience
About the role
Join us as a Wastewater Modeller and help shape the future of our wastewater networks.
You will sit within our Modelling team and play a vital role in understanding, predicting, and improving the performance of our wastewater systems. Your work will directly support planning, investment, and environmental protection across the region.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 3–5 years of modelling experience who wants to deepen their technical capability, and gain handson project exposure
What you will be responsible for:
* Build, develop, and maintain hydraulic models of wastewater networks and treatment systems.
* Analyse operational, GIS, and asset data to understand network behaviour and highlight risks.
* Support planning, design, and regulatory programmes through evidencebased modelling outputs.
* Work with engineering, operations, and environmental teams to address flooding, pollution, infiltration, capacity constraints, and resilience issues.
* Translate modelling outputs into clear, practical recommendations for technical and nontechnical audiences.
* Contribute to continuous improvement in modelling processes, tools, and data quality.
Additional requirements specific to the role:
* Occasional site visits for surveys, network investigations, or stakeholder meetings.
* Hybrid working with some travel to team locations as required.
What you’ll bring to the role:
Essential
* 3–5 years of experience in wastewater modelling.
* Experience using hydraulic modelling tools such as InfoWorks ICM.
* Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with attention to detail.
* Ability to interpret complex data and turn insights into actionable recommendations.
* A collaborative mindset and willingness to work across multidisciplinary teams.
* A relevant technical qualification (engineering, environmental science, geography, maths or similar).
* Either recently chartered or working toward professional chartership.
Desirable
* Experience working with operational or regulatory wastewater programmes.
* Knowledge of wastewater network performance, risk assessment, or asset planning.
