KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
We are pleased to announce a vacancy for a Solicitor able to manage a caseload in traditional tenant housing (possession, disrepair, homelessness) and who has the capability and interest to work on building defects cases. The successful candidate should be 0 – 5 years PQE; more experienced candidates also considered.
Bindmans has offered the full range of housing advice to tenants for 50 years. Work on Grenfell Tower and the Richmond House fire (amongst others) has led to significant demand for building defect claims for large tenant/leaseholder groups. We are seeking a solicitor able to assist in this work. Experience of claims under s1 of the DPA 1972 or other building defect litigation an advantage, as well as experience of legal aid and private funding, representing individuals and organisations, including the Official Solicitor.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Essential:
* Qualified Solicitor
* Good knowledge and experience of housing law and ideally building defect cases. Some experience or knowledge of Court of Protection and MCA and/or Community Care
* Excellent negotiating experience and skills
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Some experience of promotion of solicitor’s work
* Efficient and cost-effective work practices
* Knowledge and use of time recording systems and IT
* Thorough understanding of the obligations, including ethical obligations, of working as a solicitor.
Desirable:
The successful candidate should also have the following:
* Excellent people skills
* Good research and document analysis skills
* Knowledge and experience of claims section 1 of the DPA 1972 and/or other building defect litigation.
* Knowledge and experience of the legal aid system.
* Knowledge and experience of service charge disputes in the FTT
