Worcester City Council Customer Services Co-Ordinator Bereavement Services Worcester City Council’s Bereavement Services team are looking for a professional, empathetic and conscientious individual to join the successful team at Worcester Crematorium. This role is office based but will be working on a rota that covers chapel and attending duties. Bereavement Services within Worcester City Council manages one crematorium and two cemeteries either side of the River Severn, managing on average 1500 cremations and over 400 burial interments each year. The service has recently acquired green flag status for one of its Cemeteries and has achieved Gold status for both Burial and Cremation standards through the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management. We are working hard alongside local establishments such Worcestershire Environmental Group and the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust to increase its biodiversity across both cemeteries that we manage. The successful candidates’ duties will include but are not limited to, the day to day running of the office, answering all telephone, email and reception enquiries. Carrying out all relevant administrative checks of upcoming funeral services. Liaising with the services stakeholders such as funeral directors, stonemasons, ministers, and medical professionals. Assisting line managers with on going project work that will help shape the future of the service. Managing the day to chapel duties, checking all music and tribute requirements with funeral directors and ministers for services, maintaining a clean, tidy chapel and front of house areas. Attending full burial services, cremated remains interments and family appointments that require a calm and sensitive approach being able to answer queries and put families’ minds at ease at a deeply emotional time in their lives. The successful candidate should be open to working in partnership with other departments ensuring the wider council are working towards their overall responsibilities and targets. You should be proactive in your own personal training and development and organized in your approach towards work. Full training will be provided and experience within this area is not necessary, we want the right person with the right attitude who will help deliver the best possible service to the people of Worcester and beyond.
