Overview
Join Altrad Babcock’s Asset Management division to support key industries with engineering solutions that improve asset performance, safety, and reliability. As Principal Engineer within the Static Engineering team based in Renfrew, help deliver technical expertise across energy, industrial, and process sectors.
Key Deliverables
* Lead the delivery of engineering assessments and technical consultations focused on the integrity of static equipment, such as pressure vessels and piping.
* Plan and conduct analyses using recognised industry standards and relevant software tools.
* Produce clear technical reports and present findings to stakeholders.
* Advise clients on asset performance, compliance, and improved maintenance strategies.
* Manage project scope, schedules, and costs to meet agreed milestones.
* Identify and resolve equipment issues by applying engineering judgement.
* Lead technical reviews, investigations, and root cause analyses for equipment failures or operational concerns.
* Support new business opportunities by identifying improved approaches and innovative solutions.
* Share technical knowledge with team members and guide junior engineers through mentorship and feedback.
* Promote best practices across engineering activities and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
* Maintain strong working relationships with clients through effective communication and service delivery.
* Ensure work is carried out in accordance with relevant health, safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
Key Requirements
* Degree in mechanical engineering or similar related discipline.
* Chartered Engineer status and substantial experience in a technical engineering role.
* Expertise in static equipment integrity, including design, assessment, and failure investigation.
* Strong knowledge of industry codes and regulations relevant to pressure equipment (such as API, ASME, and EN standards).
* Skilled in computer-based analysis, such as finite element analysis and pressure vessel design software.
* Experience managing engineering project delivery against budgets and timescales.
* Proficiency in reporting complex technical findings in clear and concise language.
* Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
Desirable Experience
* Familiarity with engineering software tools such as ANSYS, PV Elite, Caesar II, or similar applications.
* Experience working within regulated industries or with utility providers.
