Overview
University Hospitals Dorset (formerly Bournemouth & Poole Hospitals) is seeking a friendly, hardworking and trustworthy person on the Bournemouth Site to work within a busy stores environment within a Catering department/team to provide freshly cooked food to patients and staff.
As a member of the catering team you’ll be responsible for providing an efficient, high quality dedicated food and beverage service, operating in compliance with corporate and local policies and procedures.
Base Location: Bournemouth Hospital
Responsibilities
* Receiving and checking stock/deliveries
* Running the catering stores; keeping accurate records and being detail‑oriented
* This role involves a lot of moving and handling
* May include some food handling to assist in simple food preparation in a chilled and/or frozen working and storage environment
* A proportion of the day spent in the freezer room picking stock
* Cleaning of the stores area, stock rotation and stock taking when required
* To assist in the smooth running of the department by maintaining and organising the efficient running of the Catering store areas; checking in all goods, maintaining an accurate set of records, weighing all recipes and delivery to relevant location, ensuring high standards of food hygiene, food storage and health & safety. Supervise other members of staff allocated to assist in the stores
Qualifications and requirements
Experience in a similar environment and a Basic Food Hygiene certificate; COSHH and allergen training (or willingness to work towards it); a commitment to customer care, first class service and teamwork.
This post requires a consistent and regular approach to hours of work to meet the needs of our customers and patients whilst supporting the large food service operation at UHD.
A driving licence would be an advantage but is not essential.

Please note if the role or service is relocated as part of a planned move, employees will not be eligible for excess mileage reimbursement. Travel from the postholder's home to the new work base will be considered a normal commute. Any other changes not related to this relocation will be managed according to the relevant Trust or National terms and conditions.
