Overview
Our Security Team is an integral part of the Estates and Facilities Department. They are responsible for supporting and delivering all aspects of security related services throughout Canterbury and the wider Campus Network. The Security team aims to offer and deliver a value-added, flexible and professional service to meet the needs and expectations of students, staff and guests.
Responsibilities
* Recruitment focus: Day shift Security Officer.
* Support and deliver security-related services across Canterbury and the wider Campus Network.
* Provide a value-added, flexible and professional security service to students, staff and guests.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience in security or a related customer service-based area.
* Understanding that the experience of students, staff and guests is at the forefront of all activities.
* Experience in the use of and monitoring access control/CCTV systems and fire alarm systems would be advantageous.
* Current SIA DS license would be advantageous.
* Strong customer-focused skills with effective written and verbal communication abilities.

* Ability to maintain high personal professional standards representing the front-facing service of the University.
* Ability to deal with difficult and occasional stressful circumstances to provide a safe, secure and inviting environment.
* Ability to assess situations and respond efficiently, coherently and effectively.

How Will I Work?
A shift pattern of 4 days on / 4 days off is operated for these posts.
Day Shift: 06:00 – 18:00 on a four-on/four-off shift pattern. You will not be required to work a mixture of days and nights. Start and finish times may vary to maintain the overall flexibility required of the University security staff.
Location, Travel and Driving
Applicants should live within a reasonable distance of the site to ensure safe travel home after night shifts. Occasional travel to other sites may be required; therefore you must be able to drive to all locations and have a clean driving licence (Manual).
