Health Care Assistant - 20 hours per week
We are a welcoming 11,000-patient, 9-doctor training practice in picturesque Morpeth, Northumberland, with a nursing team including 5 practice nurses, one Nursing Associate and two HCAs. We are looking for an energetic and experienced Health Care Assistant who has experience of working within a primary care setting and a real passion for delivering outstanding standards of care and health promotion.
We use System1 and offer Extended Access so later working will be required on a rota basis (at least one evening per week).

Job locations: Morpeth NHS Centre, The Mount, Morpeth, Northumberland, NE61 1JX.
Responsibilities
* To collect blood samples, as requested, from patients by venepuncture.
* Work under the supervision of the Senior Practice Nurse to provide basic nursing support to the Practice.
* Ensure patient and personal safety through adherence to Practice procedures, protocols and relevant health and safety legislation at all times.
* To take part in providing Extended Access on a rota basis.
* Clinical care duties including phlebotomy, sample collection, urinalysis, height/weight measurements, blood pressure, and basic observations.
* Assist clinicians in emergency management of patients and provide health promotion information to patients.
Duties And Responsibilities
* Clinical Care: collect samples, assist with injections, minor procedures, and basic nursing support; perform routine measurements and health assessments; support health promotion.
* Care And Programme Management: order stock items, maintain equipment, follow infection control standards, contribute ideas to improve patient care.
* Clinical Practice Leadership/Development: work effectively in a team and participate in appraisals.
Qualifications
* Essential
* Qualified in phlebotomy
* Good literacy and numeracy skills
* Experience within a healthcare setting
* Ability to provide quality care and work well in a team
* Good interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to work independently following verbal or written instructions
* Effective time management and organisational skills
* Commitment to confidentiality and professional boundaries
* Willingness to develop qualifications and training for the role
* Ability to work as part of an integrated multi-skilled team
* Pleasant, articulate and able to work under pressure
* Able to work in a changing environment and use own initiative
* Desirable: HCA course specific to General Practice; System1 experience; experience with long-term conditions; injections; MS Office; experience dealing with patients; general GP practice knowledge
