Overview
We are a small family run firm looking for a dedicated and skilled individual for the position of Upholsterer. This role is varied as we re-upholster domestic and commercial work. The successful candidate will be motivated, be capable of following job instructions and carry out their duties with minimal supervision. They must be hard-working, reliable, punctual and happy to work within a small team as well as under their own initiative. The ideal candidate will have experience in upholstering a variety of chairs, sofas and fixed seating plus other ad hoc items such as headboards for beds ensuring quality and efficiency throughout the process. Previous upholstery experience is essential. We are willing to consider part time and/or flexible working for the right candidate.
Duties
* Work under the direction of the Upholstery Workshop Manager to support with the re-upholstery of various items including sofas, chairs, dining chairs, antique furniture and headboards etc.
* Work on site to repair sofas in people's homes.
* Work on site in commercial venues to install and re-upholster fixed seating.
* Stripping of furniture and repairing springs and frame and re-instating or replacing foam as required, ensuring all components are fitted accurately and securely.
* Utilise sewing techniques for fabric and leather related projects as required.
* Carry out some heavy lifting of sofas as necessary, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
Skills
* Operate and maintain various hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
* Experience in sewing, particularly in a production or manufacturing environment.
* Examine furniture frames, springs, and webbings to identify defects
* Apply knowledge of upholstery to build or repair upholstered furniture using a variety of hand or power tools
* Adhere to health and safety rules
* Capability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.

Pay: £13.32-£15.70 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
