Job Description
Mō te tūnga | About the role
As a Community Engagement Adviser, you'll be at the forefront of fostering meaningful connections and promoting environmental awareness with our communities. Your key responsibilities include:
· Building strong relationships: develop and maintain robust connections with Taranaki Catchment Communities, other community stakeholders and internal teams bridging the gap between Council goals and community aspirations.
· Event leadership: plan and deliver Council-led community events, consultations and field days utilising various tools and channels—face-to-face, online and beyond—to communicate Council goals effectively. You will also facilitate Council involvement in community-led events.
· Environmental advocacy: foster understanding and awareness of environmental issues and Council Plan requirements among our communities.
· Data insight: Support the collection of data from community engagement activities to enable community voices to be heard in the Council’s decision-making processes.

To be a good fit for this role you will have prior experience in community engagement, be an outstanding communicator, natural relationship builder and have a good understanding of environmental and/or rural issues. You will also have a tertiary qualification related to communications, agriculture or natural resource management and will bring to the role:
· An established network of contacts in Taranaki rural community
· An excellent standard of written and verbal communication
· Working knowledge of environmental issues in our region
· Excellent project and time management skills
We are looking for someone who is not only knowledgeable but personable and confident to engage one-on-one, in community group settings, or in front of a hall full of people if required. You will also be digitally saavy and able to use online channels to reach a wide audience. You will thrive off contributing to improved outcomes for our environment and communities.

The starting remuneration range for this role is $84,652 - $99,590 per annum (including KiwiSaver).
